Hi girls! Today I wanted to post something a little laid back, and so I’ll be going through my daily night time skin routine! I am a hundred and fifty percent the type of girl who just wants to get into my bed and forget about taking care of my skin every night, so my routine is very simple. Keep on reading for what I do, as well as tips for dry, dull skin during the winter months!

1. Take out my contacts

I wear contacts, so the first step is to take those out. I am absolutely guilty of leaving my contacts in at night, and every morning I wake up with extremely irritated eyes. This is probably the most important, but also obvious step for those who also wear contacts.

2. Take off my makeup

I used to wash my makeup off with a cleanser, however I’ve learned that it makes me not want to do it, and so I almost always end up leaving my makeup on. Something about rinsing water on my face when I’m tired and want to sleep really gets to me, so I’ve opted for using makeup remover wipes. They are soo much easier! Also, I keep a pack with me for when I end up spending the night at a friend’s place, or my boyfriend’s, so I don’t have to sleep with makeup on.

The makeup remover wipes I use are the Equate Beauty Makeup Remover Wipes. These are Walmart brand, so they’re cheap but they also do a really great job. I use the night-soothing ones because they smell like lavender and it really calms me down and helps me feel fresh and ready for bed.

3. Tone my face

My next step is my favorite, I don’t know why but I love toning my face. It feels so cool and relaxing, and it also makes a huge difference in how I look the next day. I’ve noticed that whenever I don’t tone my face the night before, I wake up looking extremely ashy and dull. For those who are prone to dry, flaky skin like me, toning is a must! It makes my face glow even during the winter.

My favorite toner is Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner. This stuff is absolutely amazing, and it smells so good! If you like the smell of roses, you’ll love this stuff. A bottle usually lasts me around three to four months, and if you buy it on Amazon it’s way cheaper than in stores ($7 compared to $11).

4. Moisturize!

Okay, so if you’re interested, I’ve got a hella funny, but also tragic, story for you. I’ve been wearing makeup since I was in the sixth grade, and I’ve always had super dry, flaky skin. No matter what I did I always looked cakey when I put foundation on, and I actually have spent so much money looking for the perfect foundation that wouldn’t make me look cakey. The thing is, no one ever told me that you HAVE to moisturize your face everyday, and that was the solution to the flaky skin. So if you’re in the same boat as I was and no one told you this, here it is. Moisturize every day! I moisturize when I wake up and when I go to bed, and it’s changed my life. I grew up in a very tomboyish family, so I swear learning this information was mind blowing.

My favorite moisturizer is CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. This stuff is pretty cheap, it’s gentle on sensitive skin, and I swear to god it lasts forever. I’ve had mine for a year now, and I’m almost halfway done with it. It’s insane. The only bad thing is that it doesn’t spread too well, so I end up putting a lot on and I can feel it on my face for an hour or so after applying. However, if you do it right before bed then it isn’t a problem.

And that’s it! Like I said, I have a very simple night time skin routine. Sometimes when I’m feeling like I need something a little extra, I’ll use a face mask or I’ll use some gel eye pads to help feel extra clean. However, I wanted to give you guys what I do for a typical night in. It’s quick, easy, and gets the job done.

If you have any suggestions for other products I should be using at night, let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear what you guys do for your night time routines!
